Skin wound and general skin cleansing: Start by thoroughly rinsing the area to be cleansed with water. Then, apply the minimum amount of Hibiclens needed to cover the skin or wound area and wash gently before rinsing thoroughly.

Surgical hand scrub: Begin by wetting hands and forearms with water, then scrub for 3 minutes with about 5 mL of Hibiclens using a brush. Rinse thoroughly under running water, repeat, and then dry thoroughly.

Personnel hand wash: Wet hands with water, dispense about 5 mL of Hibiclens into cupped hands and wash vigorously for 15 seconds. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Preoperative skin preparation: Liberally apply Hibiclens to the surgical site and swab for at least 2 minutes before drying with a sterile towel. Repeat and dry again with a sterile towel.

Laundering instructions: Be aware that chlorhexidine gluconate skin cleansers may cause stains if used with chlorinated products. To avoid this, rinse completely and use only non-chlorine detergents.
